How to Use Squarespace & Lodgify to Build a High-Converting Website for Your Holiday Home
Running a boutique stay or holiday home isn’t just about having a gorgeous property, it’s about creating an experience that feels effortless and memorable from the very first click. And let’s be honest: Nothing kills the vibe faster than an ugly site or clunky booking process!
As a website designer (and lover of beautiful and eclectic interiors), we’ve helped plenty of boutique holiday homes make the leap from being “just another Airbnb” to having their own beautifully branded website that truly reflects their space and homely vibe. Not only does this mean more money in your pocket by avoiding Airbnb commission fees on every single one of your bookings, a branded website also means actually showing up in local searches for accommodation all whilst inviting potential guests into a professional, luxurious, and high-calibre experience from the moment they land on your page.

One of our favorite combinations is pairing Squarespace (for a beautifully designed and user-friendly website) with Lodgify (for a powerful, stress-free booking system that helps you manage everything in one place!). Want to know how it's done? Read on to learn exactly how to use Lodgify with Squarespace to create a booking website that not only looks amazing, but also makes it a total breeze for your guests to book their stay.
What is Lodgify?
Guesty, Hostaway, Booking Factory, Hospitable, we've tried them all! And yet Lodgify stands out as perhaps the easiest to set up and seamlessly integrate into your site.
Specializing in holiday homes (and not generic hotels or big chain properties), Lodgify has pretty successfully tailored its platform and features for exactly what just a regular host needs.
Some of our favorite Lodgify features include:
Free onboarding call and syncing info from your existing Airbnb listing which makes setting up your Lodgify account ultra speedy.
One calendar synced to all the usual booking platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, VRBO, and Expedia to manage all your bookings in one place without ever worrying about double bookings.
One inbox to answer all of your guest messages without having to log into 5 different platforms.
Automated messages to streamline your process, like automatically sending out confirmation emails and check-in instructions.
and of course our favorite, a booking engine and booking widget to match that can be embedded directly on your very own branded website, allowing you to take bookings and process payments directly!
Why Squarespace?
Now, if you've done a bit of research, you might know that Lodgify actually also comes with its own little website builder (meaning that you can create your own website directly with Lodgify!). This is pretty handy if you want to keep everything in one spot, only really want a super simple website where you can take direct bookings, and to minimize subscription costs.
So you might be wondering... why do I even need a Squarespace site then?
While a Lodgify site might be more than enough for many, its main limitation is that it is super simple and really quite limited in terms of customization. There are several templates to choose from, but the results are often just a bit meh.
So this is where Squarespace comes in, allowing you to create a totally custom visually stunning site that actually feels unique and stands out!
We're Squarespace designers here so obviously, we're big fans! Here are just some features that a Squarespace website can bring to the table:
Hundreds of beautiful, modern templates to start with
Totally customizable colors, fonts, and layouts
Add any pages you want to your site, like an About page to build storytelling, a Blog to drive traffic and build SEO, Experiences, Local Attractions, How to Get There, and more
Mobile customization to make sure your site looks great on any device
SEO settings to help your site show up in searches
Easy to use, drag and drop editor
and tons more!
But while Squarespace has loads of great features, think e-commerce, blogging, email marketing, even online courses, a built-in booking system with all the features a holiday home needs just isn’t one of them. That’s where Lodgify steps in to fill the gap, making the perfect “dream team” combo for your site!
How to use Squarespace and Lodgify together
Step 1: Create your Lodgify Account & Listings
Head to lodgify.com and click Get Started in the top right corner
Follow the prompts to create your account (don't worry, it's free for 7 days if you just want to try it out first!)
Then choose to import your listing(s) from Airbnb or create them manually
Make sure to set up any booking rules like minimum stays and check-in/out times, connect a payment processor like Stripe or Paypal, and sync any of your other calendars if you're using other sites for taking bookings.
If you get stuck at any point, book a free onboarding call with the Lodgify team or explore their resources hub!
Step 2: Enable & Customize the Lodgify Booking Widget
Once your property listing has been created, head to the left-hand sidebar and click on Website Builder. This is where you can set up a whole Lodgify website if you want to, or just go to the External Widgets tab to get the code to embed the widget into any other website.
Choose from a Search Box or Booking Box type:

Then use the settings panel to customize the look of your widget. Choose from a sharp or rounded look, customize the text and button colors, and more!
Once you're happy with the look, click the Generate Code button at the bottom of the panel.
You'll see a pop up appear with a set of code. Keep this handy or open in a browser tab!
Step 3: Create your Squarespace Website & Embed the Lodgify Booking Widget
Now, create your website in Squarespace (or get help from a pro!)
If you already have a website (or once your new website is ready), head to the page where you want your widget to appear and click Edit.
Hover over the section where you want to add the widget and click +Add Block.
In the pop up, select a code block.
Double click on your new code block, then paste in the piece of code generated by Lodgify in the step above.
Click out of the code block, then click Save and Exit in the top left corner of your browser. You should now see your widget in action! 🎉
And that's it! With Squarespace bringing the looks and Lodgify handling the bookings, your holiday home can finally have a website that feels polished, professional, and truly yours. Guests get a seamless experience, and you keep more of your revenue!
